Surfing in Mozambique

December 7, 2010

Turtle Cove Wave, Tofinho

The surf spots Tofo and Tofinho in Mozambique have waves for all surfing abilities. The water is warm and dolphins often frequent the break. Tofo surf is seasonal, the peak being over winter (May-August), but there is a steady flow of waves all year round with the cyclone swells coming through between end December to beginning March.

It was not the best season for surf when we visited Tofo but I had a lot of fun playing in the small waves with a mini malibu board

I met a really good surfer girl from Australia, Madelaine, who became my surf buddy during my stay.

Madelaine, far out there at the point break at Tofinho
